AVAVAV’s adidas Fall/Winter 2025 Collection Introduces The Moonrubber Megaride and Modified Superstar

The bridge between high fashion and sportswear was built years ago, with brands like adidas continuing to reach up to luxury and avant-garde fashion houses to bring refined and head-turning looks to their silhouettes. Last year, the German sportswear brand tapped AVAVAV, the fashion brand founded in Florence, Italy, in 2017 by Linda and Adam Friberg, for a collaborative capsule of clothing and sneakers that went viral online. Following up on the rubber finger-laden Superstars and wild clothing pieces is yet another reimagining of classic adidas silhouettes by AVAVAV.
In the fashion show “The Hole,” AVAVAV had models emerge from the dirt to strut down a grassy runway, all wearing the brand’s latest clothing pieces. Some displayed the upcoming AVAVA x adidas silhouettes, the Moonrubber Megaride, and the Modified Superstar. Starting with the wilder of the two, the Moonrubber Megaride, AVAVAV’s creative director, Beate Skonare Karlsson, adds a large rubberized sculpted sole unit overtop the traditional tooling of the sneaker.

With this added rubberized portion, the model resembles, to put it nicely, a pair of clown shoes. However, the Moonrubber moniker points to a space-themed inspiration. Above this neck-breaking sole unit is the traditional Megaride upper, featuring a mesh base, metallic Three Stripes, and co-branded AVAVAV and adidas logos on the tongue.
AVAVAV’s take on the Superstar enlarges the silhouette's proportions, changing the toebox's size and shape. Here, the shelltoe comes enlarged to give the model a look similar to the Balenciaga Steroid Boot. Elevated materials like premium tumbled leather grace the rest of the sneaker. Finishing the sneaker are traditional branding details, like the Superstar text, Three Stripes on the midfoot, and updated AVAVAV logos on the tongue tag.
The AVAVAV x adidas Fall/Winter 2025 Collection will release in the latter half of 2025 through adidas Confirmed, AVAVAV, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
