For over a decade now Awake NY has been encapsulating the feeling of NYC through its own inline clothing releases and via collaborations with brands across the fashion and footwear industries. Most notably working with Asics on a series of GEL-cushioned sneakers (and even crafting their own silhouette for 2023), the label has also teamed up with Cali-based Vans in the past, however, it seems this year will continue the work between the two. Teased on the Awake NY Instagram page, we’ve got first looks at the Awake NY x Vans Old Skool.
Keeping its usual suede and canvas construction, the sneaker features clashing shades of hunter green, purple, yellow, and black throughout its design. Green suedes take over the toebox, eyestays, tongue, and heel on one pair, with black on the other. Stark white laces pop in the center. Running along the midfoot is the iconic Vans Jazz Stripe in either a purple or black finish, resting atop a cow print-like yellow and black canvas. Though we don't have clear photos of the entire sneaker, expect to see co-branding details between Awake NY and Vans on the insole or on other parts of the model. Rounding out the entire design is the white vulcanized rubber midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole.
The Awake NY x Vans Old Skool is set to launch on January 6th, 2023 through Awake NY and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
