While not under the direction of its founder Nigo, A Bathing Ape has continued to be one of the premier collaborators in the world, working with brands across all industries. One of these partners, New Balance, has worked with BAPE extensively in the past with their most recent work being on the ever-popular 2002R silhouette. Now the two are joining forces once again on a three-pack of the Boston-based company’s newest silhouette, the New Balance 57/40.
All three colorways featured in this pack feature the classic ABC camo that BAPE is famous for, coming in the OG green, grey, and multicolor. The silhouette is able to blend together retro design and modern tech through its suede, mesh, and leather build. For the two monochromatic offerings, the overlays around the toe, midfoot, and heel come in a tonal shade matching the camo found on the midfoot’s N logo while the multicolor design splashes various shades all throughout. Contrasting laces work up the tongue to NB branding on the right foot while the left hosts the APE logo prevalent on BAPE’s designs. Back along the heel, another appearance by the Japanese streetwear brand comes via “A Bathing Ape” text stamped atop the suede heel overlay on the lateral side as well as the APE logo present on the medial. The famous shark head logo calling back to WWII-era planes lands on the heel overlay while co-branded insoles complete the branding on the silhouettes. Rounding everything out is the white midsole paired with a black rubber outsole one all three colors.
The BAPE x New Balance 57/40 in all three colorways are slated to release on July 30th, 2022 exclusively through A Bathing Ape’s web store and in-store locations while a wider release may come at a later date in 2022. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA. For more updates on the latest from NB and more in the sneaker and streetwear world, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
