BEAMS Brings A Mosquito Net To This Asics Bespoke GEL-KAYANO 14 Gore-Tex

Founded in Japan back in 1976, BEAMS has risen from a small boutique in a 21.5-square-foot storefront to collaborating with some of the biggest brands on the planet. Aside from their upcoming triple collab with New Balance and Paperboy Paris, BEAMS' latest partner hails from the Land Of The Rising Sun, Asics, with the two elevating the GEL-KAYANO 14 with Gore-Tex protection.
The retro-inspired runner gets covered in black mesh and synthetic leather on the upper with buttons added to allow for the mosquito net cover included inside the packaging. Atop the synthetic leather overlays is a layer of Gore-Tex, providing protection against the elements while the forefoot gets a buckle strap to aid the utilitarian look, also locking down the aforementioned mosquito nest in place once attached. A zipper track wraps around the majority of the sneaker, providing yet another place for the net to get secured to the silhouette. Branding details for BEAMS are few and far between on the sneaker with their only appearance coming via the co-branded insole while Asics lands atop the tongue. Rounding out the look, and breaking up the mainly dark color palette, is a cream foam midsole with Gel cushioning paired with a black rubber outsole.
The BEAMS x Asics Bespoke GEL-KAYANO 14 Gore-Tex has seen a pre-order release through BEAMS that was exclusive to Japan with a wider release slated for October through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is approximately $230. For more updates on the latest in sneakers, streetwear, and more, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
