Saucony has been appearing on the radar of sneakerheads over the last year, as the footwear brand has begun to catch fire with its collaborative efforts with Jae Tips and has entered the mesh runner trend with its ProGrid Omni 9 silhouette. Outside of this lifestyle segment, Saucony produces some of the best running silhouettes on the market and is looking to bring some energy to one of its performance runners, the Endorphin Speed 4, in collaboration with the running organization Black Girls RUN!
Founded by Jay Ell Alexander in 2009, Black Girls RUN! encourages black women to practice a healthy lifestyle. Local run clubs around the country host events throughout the month. According to their site and statistics from the CDC, 80% of African-American women are overweight. Their mission is to lower this number through community-led events and providing resources to new and veteran runners.
For the brand’s latest collaboration with Saucony, the duo cover the Endorphin Speed 4 in black and pink hues with metallic silver accents hitting the Saucony logo on the midfoot. Zonal mesh construction in black is reinforced with synthetic leather and TPU film, adding durability to the sneaker. BGR!’s pink hues take over the nylon lace loop and the Black Girls Run!-branded tags on the tongue, insole, heel tab, and the included hang tag. Down below, the pink sole unit features black speckle details throughout, with the cushioning setup featuring PWRRUN PB superfoam and SPEEDROLL technology for forward motion. Also included inside the sole unit is a winged nylon plate for torsional rigidity and forefoot flexibility.
"The goal of BGR! is to empower Black women by encouraging them to focus on their well-being through physical fitness, by getting out and running, and by challenging the misconception that Black women don't run," explained Jay Ell Alexander, owner and chief executive officer of BGR! "The release of the BGR! x Saucony signature shoe marks a significant achievement in our efforts to promote our message as we strive to expand and strengthen our community."
The Black Girls RUN! x Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 W releases on September 16, 2024, through Saucony and select Fleet Feet locations across the US.
