The Dunk has come a long way since it was introduced almost four decades ago. Released around the same time as Michael Jordan’s iconic Air Jordan 1, it took a while for basketball fans and sneakerheads to get around to it. With all that said, the past two years have shown just how far the silhouette has transformed since its humble “Be True To Your School” days. From Ben & Jerry’s collabs to pairs inspired by the infamous turducken, none of these are as weird as the Cactus Plant Flea Market x Nike Flea 1 Low Overgrown- a brand new silhouette inspired by the Dunk. Here's what you need to know.
Cynthia Lu is certainly no stranger when it comes to strange Dunk releases. Back in 2020, the multi-hyphenate launched a pair that was covered completely in crystals from heel to toe and more recently a wild CPFM Flea 1 that looks similar to the Overgrown was said to be releasing later this year, but neither pair tops Cynthia's latest creation. Painted in green all-over, the upper features a vibrant green faux fur finish that can be trimmed down to make the shoe unique to your liking. Chunky rope laces tie everything together, while a pull tab around the heel pokes out, barely being seen through the shagpile design. A Yin Yang symbol is embroidered around the lateral side as a nod to the brand’s DIY aesthetic, while the Grind Rubber midsoles extend half-way up the upper. Zipped stash pockets can be found on the tongue, and this all comes packed within a special edition shoebox that comes accompanied with a fleece dust bag and three extra sets of laces.
The CPFM x Nike Flea 1 Overgrown is no doubt one of the craziest collaborations that we’ve ever seen. cpfm.xyz will release the pair on November 25th, 2022 while Nike SNKRS is set to drop this wild pair of kicks on November 29th, 2022 for a retail price of $190. While these certainly aren’t for everyone, if you want a pair in your rotation make sure you follow us on Twitter and download our Mobile app today for the latest updates!
