Cynthia Lu’s brainchild, the mysterious fashion label Cactus Plant Flea Market, has grown in popularity over the last half-decade as it has established strong relationships with partners like Nike. Outside of these hit sneaker collaborations, CPFM has remained a consistent part of the collaborative fashion industry as they’ve worked with artists, brands, companies, and franchises like Ye and Travis Scott, McDonald’s, Denim Tears, Despicable Me, and many more. Adding to their animated partnerships, CPFM has teased a new project with the classic Nickelodeon series SpongeBob Squarepants alongside fast-fashion brand Uniqlo.
In the teaser image, SpongeBob’s best friend, Patrick Star, gets CPFM-ified with his eyes receiving a double-up akin to the label’s famous smiley face logo, a motif common in many of the brand’s projects. Alongside this, we glimpse a SpongeBob plushie that features the CPFM smiley face logo on his fingers. Both characters overlook the island, often shown before heading down to Bikini Bottom.
Following the teaser, Uniqlo revealed the entire range of offerings in this CPFM and SpongeBob collab. Three accessories, two plushies, a hat, five shirts, and three hoodies have been created. The plushies depict SpongeBob and Patrick with the double-eye motif common in CPFM collabs, while the hat uses CPFM's font to pay homage to the Krusty Krab.
For clothing, we see iconic memeable scenes and moments from the show, including SpongeBob looking at Squidward from the episode where Squidward starts eating Krabby Pattys, Mr. Krabs' confused look that has become a meme from the episode when SpongeBob sells colorful Krabby Pattys, and nods to the entire cast of characters. The CPFM x SpongeBob x Uniqlo collection will release December 12, 2024, through Uniqlo online and in all of the brand's physical locations. Available in adults and kids sizing, the retail price for the shirts is set at $25, the hoodies at $50, the hat at $30, and the plushies at $40.
