While New Balance has begun to reengage with the MLB as it signed two-way star player Shohei Ohtani, the Boston-based footwear label is entering into the football space with the help of Rich Paul. His Klutch Athletics has just announced its latest signee, Washington Commanders star Chase Young.
Creating a new sportswear brand with NB, Paul’s Klutch Athletics aims to offer training product that is both functional and stylistic. It will cover all ranges of sports, gender, and age groups. Announcing the brand’s first ambassador Chase Young, Rich Paul stated, “He aligns perfectly with the brand based on his talent, his values and his fit with our team. In Chase, I see someone who embodies the spirit of what it means to Be Klutch. We are focused on uplifting and empowering all athletes, and I believe Chase will help us achieve that.”
In regards to signing with Paul and NB's Klutch Athletics, Chase stated, “I am honored to be the first athlete to join Klutch Athletics by New Balance and to work with the design team on the collection. As an athlete I always want training apparel that meets the grueling demands of everyday training but can also be mixed in with other pieces from my closet and worn outside of the gym. It is clear Klutch Athletics by New Balance has put athletes first and I am excited to make history with both brands.”
Not only is Chase the first athlete to sign with Klutch Athletics by New Balance, but he is the first NFL player to sign with the Boston-based brand. In a press release regarding the signing, NB stated that Chase will help the design team with a “new and innovative” football cleat that is set to launch in 2024.
The first Klutch Athletics by New Balance drop is set to go down on April 27th, 2023, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. As for Chase Young’s contribution to the label, we should expect him to take the field in Klutch Athletics gear once the NFL season kicks off later in 2023.
