Edison Chen and CLOT present the next installment in their ongoing partnership with German sportswear giant adidas, unveiling an all-new colorway of their interpretation of the Superstar.
Co-founded by Hong Kong wizard Edison Chen, CLOT’s fusion of traditional Chinese elements with contemporary urban styles has positioned it as a global trendsetter. Under Chen’s leadership, the brand quickly became prominent, establishing partnerships with various major fashion and lifestyle brands. Much lauded for their work with Nike, the move to adidas was surprising and widely publicized. Ultimately, CLOT’s design approach is storytelling, innovation, and cultural fusion. adidas is the perfect partner for CLOT. After releasing the espadrille-inspired Gazelle, and with an upcoming Stan Smith seen as well, it is the true classic silhouettes from the adidas roster that are getting the CLOT treatment with this pair of Superstar now taking center stage.
The CLOT x adidas Superstar Crystal Sand sports an upper crafted from premium leather. Hues of crystal sand give the creamy aesthetic a luxury vibe. Brogue-esque perforations are seen between the Three Stripes branding along the midfoot. A piece of hazy beige leather is used for the back heel tab, again featuring brogue-style perforations, while the tongue is adorned with dual branding finished with a serrated edge. The instantly recognizable shell-toe cap is usually rubber, but CLOT covers it in leather, giving off a wrinkled look. A rich brown strip of premium leather wraps around the entire upper as foxing, with tonal stitching, as more brown continues through the white EVA cushioned midsole. Underneath, there is the utilization of a chunky serrated rubber outsole that completely transforms the look of the sneaker.
The CLOT x adidas Superstar Crystal Sand is set to release on October 12, 2024, exclusively via Juice Store in-store and online. A wider drop will follow in Holiday 2024 at adidas and select retailers worldwide. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $200.
