A collaborative legacy between Concepts and New Balance has consistently delivered memorable sneaker releases over the years. Among their masterpieces, the New Balance 998 C-Note stands out. Released in 2013, this creation was a nod to the aesthetic of the 100-dollar bill. With rumors and speculations floating about a possible revival of this sneaker, Deon Point, the Creative Director at Concepts, has added fuel to the fire with an Instagram post with what appears to be marketing for a re-release. Following Deon's teaser, arab_lincoln on Instagram showcased the brand-new retro of the pair. On top of this, leaked images of what is purported to be a new Concepts x New Balance 998 have also emerged.
A throwback to its 2013 release, the C-Note is adorned with a lavish pigskin suede upper where varying shades of grey gracefully embraced the mudguard, midfoot, and tongue. Reflective silver 3M elements adorn the vamp, collar, and heel, setting off the mesh base's gradient greys. The heel's suede overlay bore lush green hues, complemented by a copper-esque shade on the TPU. Unlike the OG release, this new version features Concepts branding on the lateral heel and on the insole. The iconic "998 Made in USA" and New Balance logos are also present, prominently displayed on the tongue and heel. The shoe's foundation features an Abzorb-cushioned midsole in a tri-color scheme of cream, white, and blue, which beautifully contrasted with the black rubber outsole.
The Concepts x New Balance 998 Made in USA C-Note will release October 5, 2023 via Concepts online and in-store in the US and via New Balance in Japan. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $220.
