As New Balance celebrates three decades of the iconic 998 model, the brand continues to offer fresh and compelling reinterpretations of this classic. Following a collaboration with Kith and the creation of several inline colorways thanks to the Teddy Santis-led Made in USA line, New Balance now partners with Concepts for a distinctive take on the New Balance 998. This follows up on Concepts' 998 from 2015 which was inspired by auto racing.
Inspired by Concepts' previous work on the New Balance 997, the upcoming Concepts x New Balance 998 sports a rich blend of magenta-shaded suede on the mudguard, midfoot, and heel. A crisp, white perforated leather base provides the perfect backdrop for the bold suede overlays. Additional magenta suede accents on the tongue contribute to the shoe's cohesive aesthetic, while the "998" branding is split between white and gold on each shoe. The signature "N" logo on the midfoot and a TPU overlay is rendered in a complementary pink hue. Further gold embellishments on the TPU eyelet and the heel's TPU overlay echo the shoe's refined detailing. Inside, the insole features Concepts branding. For the final touch, the sneaker sits atop a white Abzorb midsole with pink highlights near the toe and a black outsole.
The Concepts x New Balance 998 will release in 2023 through Concepts and New Balance online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is yet to be announced.
