Create Your Own Nike Air Max Sneaker with Nike’s AI AirImagination
Published
Today, March 26, marks the 11th Air Max Day that Nike has officially celebrated since beginning the holiday in 2014. Commemorating the Air Max family, which has become an integral part of Nike’s identity, the day marks the original Air Max 1 launch date in 1987. On top of the product releases for this year’s event, including the .SWOOSH x Nike Air Max 1 Big Head Origins, Nike has introduced an AI tool that allows fans to imagine their own Nike Air Max creations.
The AirImagination AI platform is filled with archival Nike designs and sketches directly from the brand’s archive database. With this, you can use the text-to-image AI tool to create a unique design by feeding it instructions and inspiration. I was able to generate a handful of different designs that spoke to me, like this futuristic Air Max 96-inspired high-top boot featuring puffy panels and a large, bulbous, organically-shaped Air unit. Chatting with the AI bot allows you to give it instructions or pick from a series of choices, including material and color.

Nike is no stranger to using AI as last summer they debuted an entire collection of prototype footwear that was created with AI assistance, A.I.R. Athletes like Victor Wembanyama, A’ja Wilson, Errling Haaland, Faith Kipyegon, and Kylian Mbappé each had ultra-futuristic performance footwear showcased in Paris ahead of the Summer 2024 Olympics.
To access the Nike AirImagination platform, you must be US-based and sign in to your Nike account using the link here. Once in, unleash your creative side and come up with designs!
