As one of the titans in the entertainment industry, Disney has found major success not only in the movie, television, and theme park space but also through merchandising its IPs. We’ve seen this in the footwear industry through collaborations with adidas who has been the sole collaborator when it comes to Disney-branded footwear collaborations. Now in honor of Disney’s 100th birthday, a commemorative adidas Ultraboost 1.0 has just emerged.
Taking on a combo of white, silver, and pink, the iconic construction of the Ultraboost 1.0 gets slightly tweaked to pay homage to the house Mickey built through a direct nod to the mouse in the Primeknit pattern around the toebox. Nearby, a cream set of laces works through the silver Three Stripes cage and stops just below the silver tongue tag which houses a special logo honoring Disney’s 100th birthday on the right pair and features the standard adidas branding on the left. Breaking up this almost-two-tone sneaker is pink diagonal lines that grace the Three Stripes logo, however, we return to the silver/white combo through the mudguard and heel overlay. Nodding to the very beginning of the company, adidas throws in an old-school drawing of iconic characters like Donald Duck and Mickey’s dog pluto and co-branded logos on the insole while the entire design is complete with a white Boost midsole and black Continental rubber outsole.
The Disney x adidas Ultraboost 1.0 100th Anniversary W is set to release overseas on December 14th, 2022 while a US drop is confirmed for January 1st, 2023 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $210.
