California-based running label District Vision has teamed up with New Balance multiple times in the last year. The pair last worked together on the FuelCell Supercomp Elite v4 in May 2024, with a follow-up now hitting shelves — a reworked version of NB’s elite trail runner, the Hierro v8.
Pictured here in Black and Bone, the two pairs feature a hand-drawn, organic contoured overlay instead of the standard reinforcement found on other pairs. On the base sits a tonal mesh with the aforementioned overlays comprising a translucent ReGrind, a proprietary material from New Balance sourced from car tires and old shoe soles. Branding details for District Vision include a co-branded logo on the tongue, the running label’s name spelled out on the lateral heel and right insole, and the brand’s logo placed on the medial side’s nylon lace loop.
A red dot is placed beside the N logo to nod to District Vision’s Japanese eyewear endeavors, matching the overlays' color. Moving toward the tongue, we see a lightweight mesh that provides breathability while the laces weave in and out of fused TPU reinforcements. Below is a Fresh Foam X-cushioned foam midsole with a Vibram EcoStep Natural outsole perfect for hitting the trails.
The District Vision x New Balance Hierro v8 Trail Pack was released today, December 3, 2024, and is available to purchase through District Vision online, with a global release set to take place on December 12. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $195.
