Asics continues to forge strong partnerships within the fashion world, and its collaboration with the Japanese womenswear brand EMMI on the Gel-NYC model exemplifies this trend. The Gel-NYC, a relatively new addition to Asics' lineup, has already seen a variety of special editions thanks to collaborations with notable brands like Hidden NY and Needles and even a thematic partnership with Naruto.
EMMI’s take on the Asics Gel-NYC features a minimalist design that harmonizes with the brand's aesthetic, presenting a cream-white mesh base complemented by metallic silver leather overlays. These striking yet understated overlays adorn the mudguard, vamp, heel overlay, and tongue. A pop of volt green outlines the Asics logo on the midfoot, adding a vibrant contrast to the otherwise muted color palette. Notably, EMMI’s branding is absent, allowing the clean design and Asics logos on the tongue tag, lateral heel, and insole to stand out. The design has a cream and grey foam midsole and a durable black rubber outsole, ensuring both style and comfort.
The EMMI x Asics Gel-NYC W will release on May 15, 2024, through EMMI, Asics, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women's sizes, the sneaker retails for $130.
