Taking the Premier League by storm, Erling Haaland has become one of the most elite goal-scorers in the world. Although his country, Norway, didn’t qualify for this past FIFA World Cup, his presence in the soccer world continues growing at the bright young age of 22. On top of chasing the single-season goal record in the Premier League with his club Manchester City, Nike has announced they have signed the young star.
This expands Nike’s current roster of soccer stars as Haaland joins the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Megan Rapinoe, Marcus Rashford, and more. While he previously had a deal with Nike that expired in January 2022, David Ornstein of The Athletic had reported Nike was in the lead to sign the star to another deal that would net Haaland around $24 million per year.
The Swoosh themselves did not fully convey details regarding the signing, though we can expect Haaland to take the pitch in Nike gear for the foreseeable future. If his star power continues to grow as expected, we likely will see a signature soccer cleat from Haaland. We’ll have to keep our eye on Haaland not only to see if he breaks the scoring record but also to see how Nike utilizes the Norweigan striker in its soccer division.
