Innovation in the footwear industry is something that exponentially grows as technology advances and FCTRY LAb is looking to help speed up the design process for brands across the industry. Founded by Omar Bailey, the former head of the Innovation Lab at adidas Yeezy, the LA-based label is aiming to expedite the process of designing sneakers and getting them to retail by shortening the usual 18-month process down to under 3 months. So far we’ve seen FCTRY LAb’s Instagram showcase some of the work they have done since opening their new LA factory months ago, however, it seems we’re on the eve of the label's first independent piece of footwear with the FCTRY LAb Knight RNR.
As seen through posts online by the likes of Wex, the FCTRY LAb Knight RNR features a one-piece EVA foam construction that obviously leans into the recent trend of foam-based slip-on footwear. Contoured lines and small perforations on the sidewall of the toe give the silhouette a sleek, futuristic look with the entire model covered in a monochromatic shade of white. Considering the fact Omar Bailey was working with Yeezy during the production of the Foam RNNR, the model does draw comparisons, however, its rounded design and semi-open heel make the silhouette stand out. Rounding out the look is the rubber outsole below.
Following the reveal of the all-white colorway, two more pairs were showcased. One being a "Blue" and the other a "Black" colorway.
The FCTRY LAb Knight RNR is set to release on March 15th, 2023 through FCTRY LAb's website. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
