As of late, we've seen some of adidas' partnerships take a turn for the worst as the German sportswear giant has cut ties with Ye and his Yeezy brand, as well as Beyonce's Ivy Park. On top of this, long-time collaborator Nigo (who also owns the Japanese streetwear label Human Made) recently signed a deal to collaborate with rival sportswear brand Nike. One partner who seemingly was nowhere to be found, Jerry Lorenzo, recently had some sample pairs of his footwear from the Fear Of God Athletics x adidas Collection leak online and quickly shut down rumors that these pairs would be the ones released from the collection. Following this, an announcement was made that the full unveiling of the project would go down on April 19th, 2023 at the Hollywood Bowl.
During an invite-only star-studded show at the famous Los Angeles venue, Lorenzo showcased a robust clothing collection from the Fear Of God line and the Fear Of God Athletics x adidas partnership. A slew of Lorenzo’s closest friends and family were in attendance, including Ye and Ibn Jasper. At the same time, plenty of retailers and publications, including representatives from END Clothing and Complex's Brendan Dunne, also got a first-hand look at the runway show. This event marked the first-ever fashion show at the Hollywood Bowl.
Footwear included adidas Basketball silhouettes that resembled the sample piece of footwear shown a few weeks back. Upgrades included adding Three Stripes on the midfoot, a reshaped sole unit, and different materials on the high-top model. Two colorways were spotted, featuring a two-tone design hosting an accenting hit on the toebox. The sole unit resembles the YZY QNTM and likely contains a full-length Boost cushioning system. In the background of one photo, we can see a low-top silhouette that is probably part of the collection.
The clothing was spotted on various models and from Pusha T, who performed the Kids See Ghosts hit "Feel The Love" in the middle of the runway show. Like many FOG clothing, oversized and exaggerated silhouettes were in play as well as minimal branding. One featured piece was an oversized shirt with three arrows on the shoulders, while we also saw sweatpants with minor hits of adidas text. A complete look at the collection is expected in the coming weeks.
The Fear Of God Athletics x adidas Collection will be released in Spring/Summer 2023 through adidas, Fear Of God, and select retailers online and in-store. The retail price for the collection has not yet been announced, but fans of Fear Of God and adidas alike will eagerly await the release.
