A select few of the top athletes across all major sports get the opportunity to create their very own signature sneakers with sportswear brands like Nike or Jordan Brand, usually the cream of the crop in each respective sport. For the NBA, stars like Russell Westbrook and Jayson Tatum have been given the green light from Jordan Brand to receive their very own sneaker designed for their playstyle. While we have to wait until 2023 for Tatum’s first Jordan Brand model to hit the shelves, Russell Westbrook is set to get the 6th iteration of his signature series with JB in the same year - the Jordan Why Not 0.6?
Keeping the same low-top design previous models have had, Westbrook’s Why Not 0.6? features a mixture of ripstop nylon, leather, and fused overlays with this first look coming dressed primarily in red. Around the edges of the sole and upper sits a fused plastic overlay that comes double-reinforced through the toe's use of suede, featuring yellow accents near the midfoot. Working up from there, semi-translucent ripstop nylon covers what appears to be a red and yellow mesh below while the laceless construction features a zipper system spelling out “WHY NOT?” in yellow. Peeking through this is a pebbled leather tongue in red with yellow details coming in the form of a Jumpman logo and extra stitching details across the nylon pull tab. Back along the heel, a red leather overlay hosts more yellow branding details with another Jumpman logo present along the lateral side and on the heel’s pull tab. Rounding out the design is a foam midsole paired with a grippy rubber outsole.
The Jordan Why Not 0.6? Bright Crimson is set to release on February 8th, 2023 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
