Of all the characters in the Sanrio universe, Hello Kitty is the most recognizable. The anthropomorphized cat has had quite the adventure across the footwear industry, as she has been part of collaborative efforts with adidas, Crocs, and even Nike. However, the primary partner for Hello Kitty sneakers has been adidas, which is working on more pairs to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 50th Anniversary in 2024. Following an official look at the Hello Kitty Gazelle Indoor, official images of the Hello Kitty x adidas Adistar Cushion have emerged.
The mesh running sneaker from 2005 comes coated in white hues with light pink, cream, and red accents spread across the design. On the base, we see a white mesh utilized, which comes with a faint Hello Kitty portrait laid throughout the design, while the tongue split white and cream hues. Hello Kitty herself once again makes an appearance on the tongue alongside text for the character, while the most obvious homage to the cat comes via the red ribbons across the upper. In a nod to the 50th Anniversary, 50 red ribbons are evenly split between the two pairs, 25 on the left and right. Final hits on the upper include the TPU panels in cream, cream Three Stripes on the midfoot, and white leather along the mudguard. Rounding out the design is the cream and pink adiPRENE+ foam midsole paired with a tonal rubber outsole.
The Hello Kitty x adidas Adistar Cushion W releases on October 1, 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in women’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
