Many collaborators in the sneaker space typically don’t jump from brand to brand, usually sticking to one brand for the most part like Supreme and Nike or Kith and adidas. It seems that for Sanrio and their Hello Kitty IP, a Nike collab wasn’t enough as the loveable kitten is making an appearance on the adidas Superstar.
A classic Superstar color combo of white and black make up the majority of the leather and rubber silhouette with hits of Hello Kitty’s color palette and likeness appearing throughout. Starting down near the iconic shell toe, a set of two-tone laces are split down the middle of each pair with the right featuring a deep red and white while the left gets a pink/white combo. On the ends of the colored laces sit adidas and Hello Kitty co-branded beads and “Hello Kitty” embroidery atop the tongue. Along the profile sits the typical Three Stripes and “Superstar” branding, though once you head over to the heel, Hello Kitty appears peeking from beneath the sole unit. A black heel tab hosts pink adidas embroidery and is covered in white polka dots, matching the co-branded insoles. Underfoot, a white rubber midsole is paired with a white outsole that features colored polka dot hits matching the colored laces of each respective sneaker.
The Hello Kitty x adidas Superstar saw a release overseas on September 1st, 2022 with a worldwide launch through adidas and select retailers set for later in 2022. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
