Vans has been no stranger to collaborations that breathe fresh creativity into its classic silhouettes. Recently, the spotlight has been on the collaboration between Vans and leading artists from around the globe. This time, the brand joins forces with the prolific Japanese artist HIROTTON to drop a capsule collection reminiscent of their past ventures into art and streetwear.
The centerpiece of the HIROTTON x Vans collaboration revolves around two of Vans' most celebrated silhouettes: the SK8-Hi and Authentic. The SK8-Hi showcases black canvas on its midfoot panel, contrasted by black suede overlays. The sneaker becomes a canvas for HIROTTON's vibrant artwork, featuring a skeleton skateboarder against a scenic mountain backdrop. This design melds seamlessly with the custom Vans branding on the tongue. Meanwhile, the Authentic dons a bright yellow canvas upper, punctuated by a distinct skull graphic on the toebox. Both pairs rest atop Vans' signature white and gum midsole-outsole combo, which complements the striking aesthetics of each. The collection is rounded off with apparel: an MA-1 jacket, vest, and two graphic tees, which echo the motifs seen on the footwear, unifying the entire capsule.
The HIROTTON x Vans Collection will release September 16, 2023, exclusively at the Vans Store Harajuku in Tokyo. As of this writing, pricing for the sneakers remains under wraps.
