Soccer is one of the biggest sports on earth, so it is no surprise that adidas supplies an impressive roster of international and domestic teams. In 2023, for the first time, adidas became the supplier of sportswear for the Jamaican Football Federation and now brings forth a two-shoe collection dedicated to the national soccer teams of the Caribbean island. The pack comprises a streetwear Gazelle and a firm ground cleat in the form of the Copa Mundial; the vibrant colorblocking presents a flavorful take on the Jamaican flag.
When the partnership began last year, it was announced that adidas was enlisting Grace Wales Bonner to collaborate and express her flair on clothing and apparel related to the Jamaican soccer teams. Her designs ranged from t-shirts to tracksuits to gameday jerseys the players wore. Some of these looks have become increasingly popular, highlighting the growing collector scene in soccer shirts. For the footwear, though, The Brand With Three Stripes has kept it all in line, with their team of designers based at adidas HQ in Herzogenaurach working on the project.
The Jamaica Football Federation x adidas Gazelle has a spring yellow suede upper with core black leather stripes contrasting on the sides. Gold foil Gazelle branding runs parallel with the stripes. To the rear, a flash of green leather is present via the heel tab, adorned with a JFF logo. The molded tongue in cloud white features an embossed green trefoil logo. JFF and adidas co-branding are applied to the insoles, and a gum rubber sole completes the look.
Handcrafted in the famous factory at Scheinfeld, Germany, the Jamaica Football Federation x adidas Copa Mundial is sure to be of the highest quality and turn heads on the pitch. The cleat is iconic for professionals and amateurs, having been a mainstay for 45 years. The premium all-leather upper is covered in bold gold with signature wrap-around stitching to the toe area. A black leather heel and multi-colored Three Stripes on the sides add flavor to the overall design. Copa Mundial branding sits in gold foil on the sides. The tongue sports a black tongue tag embroidered in "Rasta" green, red, and yellow colors. The molded sole unit in cloud white has 12 studs for increased traction.
The Jamaica Football Federation x adidas Collection is set to release on August 22, 2024, through adidas, and select retailers in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is TBA.
