As the WNBA continues to rise in prominence, so too does the representation of its athletes within the sneaker world. Nike, a long-standing supporter of women's basketball, is pushing this agenda forward by providing more personalized platforms for its athletes. Following the footsteps of WNBA stars like Sabrina Ionescu, who boasts her signature sneaker, Jewell Loyd, affectionately known as The Gold Mamba, is set to release her colorway of the Nike GT Cut 3. This news comes after the announcement that Caitlin Clark would get her signature Nike sneaker.
The Jewell Loyd x Nike GT Cut 3 stands out with its expressive design, featuring a lively mix of aqua blue and pastel purple. The sneaker's upper is adorned with Nike Swoosh-laden smiley faces in vibrant aqua blue, red, and yellow colors, injecting a playful yet competitive spirit. Inspirational messages like Got you! and Go be great! embellish the left and right heel tabs. These added features come from Loyd's best friend's son Justice, who was sent a blank pair of GT Cut 3s by Nike to design, resulting in the pair we see today.
Additional red accents across the textile embroidered on the lateral toe and the TPU shank enhance the dynamic look. The footwear is equipped with a red and pastel purple foam midsole that incorporates ZoomX cushioning for exceptional responsiveness and comfort. The lateral heel of the sole features Ready, Set, Go! text, echoing the sneaker's readiness for high performance. The outsole finishes the look, combining red, yellow, black, and blue hues.
The Jewell Loyd x Nike GT Cut 3 will release on May 14, 2024, at Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $190.
