Justin Saunders, the founder of Montreal-based label JJJJound, has had the pleasure of working with many in and out of the sneaker industry. While their most recent linkup in this world came via Puma on a China-exclusive pack of Puma Suede colorways, it seems the dynamic duo of JJJJound and Boston-based New Balance are back at it on the 99X series. Continuing their work on the ever-popular 990v3, “Olive Brown” is taking over the latest JJJJound x New Balance Made in USA collaboration.
Early images show us what appears to be a simple mixture of the colorway’s title, olive green hits sprinkled throughout a majority earth tone brown suede and mesh. The former of these two shades lands along the toebox’s overlays as well as the “N” logo along the midfoot while the suede mudguard, quarter panel, eyestays, and mesh tongue get a brown hue covering their respective materials. Further contrasting shades come via silver hits atop the “Made in USA” branded tongue tag and on the tip of the toebox while the cotton lace set gets a stark white finish to match the leather heel overlay. Co-branded details between JJJJound and NB make an appearance on the insole in white, popping off the black insole and sockliner that surrounds it. Rounding out the design is the two-tone white and cream 990v3 midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
The JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 Made in USA Olive Brown is set to release exclusively in Montreal at a JJJJound installation. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $265 CAD (approx $200 USD).
