Joseph Robinson, better known as JoeFreshGoods, is coming off the successful release of his latest collaboration with New Balance, the 9060 in “Penny Cookie Pink” and “Baby Shower Blue.” While he continues to land his own collaborations within the brand, New Balance appointed Joseph to spearhead their Conversations Amongst Us Collection which celebrates black culture both subtly and overtly. Already releasing two silhouettes within the collection, the latest model to get the “Conversations Amongst Us” treatment is the New Balance Kawhi 2.
Keeping in theme with both the New Balance 550 and 2002R that released previously, the silhouette gets dressed in shades of cream, white, and tan across its performance basketball ready materials. Around the toebox, a cracked leather mudguard comes in a cream shade, accenting the tan NB Kinetic Stitch upper. New Balance text appears on the bottommost eyelet, housing a two-tone cream and black set of laces that work towards the “JOE AND KAWHI (c. 2022) A NEW DAY” text with “A Conversation Amongst Us” written just below.
Working back from the cream overlays on the profile, the heel and its New Balance branding get the cracked treatment, similar to the mudguard. On the insole, more “Conversations Amongst Us” branding is present. Underfoot, a FuelRide cushioning system is contained through the white midsole and wavy tan and grey rubber outsole.
The JoeFreshGoods x New Balance Kawhi 2 Conversations Amongst Us released early through DTLR on May 24th, 2022 with a wider release scheduled for June 3rd through New Balance and select retailers.
