To the dismay of the Kansas City Chiefs and their fans, the Philadelphia Eagles are your Super Bowl 59 champions after dominating all four quarters of action. Leading the charge for the Birds was quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was named Super Bowl MVP after completing 17 of 23 pass attempts for 221 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 72 yards and a touchdown. To celebrate his victory, Jordan Brand ran an ad spot featuring Hurts titled “Love, Hurts.”

Since signing with Jordan Brand in 2023, Hurts has taken the field in various Air Jordan retro cleats, including a mismatched pair of Air Jordan 11 Cleats that violated the NFL’s uniform policy in Week 15. Last night, he laced up a pair of Jordan 1 High Bred cleats done by Mache for practice and switched to his favorite Air Jordan 11 Cleats for the game itself.

Scenes from Hurts’ 2024 season and postseason efforts are played overtop Teddy Pendergrass’ Love T.K.O., which is extra special considering Pendergrass was born in Philadelphia. Alongside the classic R&B tune, an announcer states, “Hate that you said he wasn’t a Top 10 quarterback? Hate that you said he couldn’t throw the ball? Hate that he got over when push came to shove? Hate that he always says the right thing?” After which, a clip of Hurts saying, “Money is nice, championships are better” plays.

The commercial finishes with, “Hate that in your all-knowing, armchair wisdom, you were sure he’d come up short? Hate that you got it wrong?” Then, a fade to black, and the phrase “Love, Hurts” appears in bold red lettering.

While the haters may have doubted Hurts’ ability, he proved them all wrong by securing his first Super Bowl ring after losing in Super Bowl 57, which was also played against the Chiefs. Looking forward, expect to see more from Jordan Brand and Hurts in terms of marketing efforts and the PE cleats he wears on the field.
