After Michael Jordan’s second (technically third) retirement in 2003, Jordan Brand was looking for ways to bring excitement to their lineup of silhouettes as the brand's namesake was no longer rocking new kicks on the court. While nowadays we have models such as the Two Trey or 6 Rings that merge past Jordan models into one, 2005 is when the first hybrid Jordan sneaker stepped onto the scene, the Jordan Dub Zero. With the last release coming in 2020 for the silhouettes anniversary, 2022 and 2023 will serve as a sort of reintroduction for the now-overlooked silhouette, and as such, is appearing in OG-like colorways like the recently revealed “Legend Blue.”
Unlike the round of retros from 2015, the sneaker will return with its patent and smooth leather build as well as the iconic laser-print graphic on the latter of the two. For this UNC-esque colorway, black patent leather (referencing the Jordan 11) accents the white tongue, leather, and gold laser print pattern featuring various Jordan silhouettes the sneaker is inspired by. Legend Blue shades land on the branding details and sockliner while the heel’s black Jordan 6-inspired pull tab gets a hint of this same blue hue. The general shape and cut of the upper fuses the previously mentioned Jordan 11 and 12 together while the midsole and outsole borrow from the Air Jordan 4, getting covered in a mix of grey, legend blue, and white.
The Jordan Dub Zero Legend Blue is set to release in December 2022 through Nike and select Jordan Brand retailers online and in-store. Coming in full-family sizing, the retail price for men’s pairs is set at $160.
