Renowned for his distinctive monochromatic, cartoon-like aesthetic that blurs the lines between art and everyday objects, Joshua Vides steps into a new collaboration poised to captivate sneakerheads and art enthusiasts alike. This time, Vides lends his creative genius to A Bathing Ape, reimagining the Road Sta silhouette in a partnership that melds his unique style with BAPE's streetwear prestige. Previously, Vides worked with Converse on the Chuck 70 and New Balance on the 57/40 and 327.
The Joshua Vides x A Bathing Ape Road Sta showcases a striking design that immediately catches the eye, staying true to Vides' artistic roots. The sneaker features a sleek black-and-white color scheme that gives it a "cell-shaded" appearance, like something straight out of a comic book. This effect is achieved by carefully applying thick black outlines around each of the white panels, including the BAPE star logo on the midfoot.
Additional black branding details adorn the tongue and heel, while a playful insole design features a cartoon BAPE head alongside Joshua Vides’ iconic traffic cone motif. The design is completed with a tonal midsole and outsole, maintaining a clean aesthetic throughout. A special touch for collectors, 100 pairs of this collaboration will be offered in exclusive packaging made from A Grade Baltic Birch, each signed and numbered by Joshua Vides himself.
The Joshua Vides x A Bathing Ape Road Sta will release on March 14, 2024, through Joshua Vides' website, followed by a March 16 release via BAPE. Coming in men's sizing, regular pairs will retail for $319 while special box pairs come in at $500.
