Arthur Kar has built his name in the streetwear and footwear world through collaborations with Nike and Salomon in the last few years with his KAR L’Art De L’Automobile label. Hot on the heels of his recent apparel capsule with Nike, Kar took to Instagram to tease an upcoming Nike Air Force 1 x KAR L’Art De L’Automobile project.
KAR L'Art later revealed that there are two Air Force 1s, both of which will remain exclusively for friends & family. The first of the two F&F Air Force 1s, "968 L'AF1," is inspired by the KAR L'Art De L'Automobile's Porsche 968. Like the 968, the upper of the Air Force 1s is photochromic and appears black, but once the sunlight hits it, it appears more green. The insoles feature Nike and L'Art branding alongside a split graphic that showcases KAR L'Art De L'Automobile's Porsche 968. Packaging is also custom, with 10th Anniversary branding and more Nike L'Art logos scattered on the upper.
The second version of the friends & family x KAR L'Art De L'Automobile x Nike Air Force 1 Low celebrates the 10th Anniversary of KAR L'Art De L'Automobile. Known as AF1 Lightweight, this pair has carbon fiber Swooshes and heel tabs, which are supposed to make them lighter. The carbon fiber heel tabs have "L'Art De L'Automobile Garage 10 Year Anniversary" etched into them, commemorating the 10th Anniversary of the company.
