Those connected to Jordan Brand often get gifted pairs of upcoming releases to help market the product, however, only a select few get to receive their own exclusive colorways and sneakers like Drake with the recently revealed OVO x Air Jordan 8 Sample. Going back to the same time period of 2017, it seems Jordan Brand was generous with “PE” colorways as KAWS took to Instagram to reveal he had a special production run of his very own Swoosh-less Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG NS.
Four neutral colorways ready for daily wear are showcased and all come with ultra-tumbled leather and an elephant print-like design across the entire model. Each remains monochromatic from head to toe and features classic KAWS motifs like his “XX” logo on the lateral heel as well as his artwork printed atop the insole. The biggest change to the model comes via the removal of the Swoosh branding across the profile, making the pair look somewhat similar to the Jordan Centre Court sans the cloud logo on the heel. Underfoot sits the classic AJ 1 rubber midsole and outsole in a tonal color matching the rest of the sneaker.
The KAWS x Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG NS PE Collection will remain exclusive to KAWS himself and, unfortunately, not see a retail release. Seeing KAWS’ rendition of the AJ 1 Low gives us hope that one day we do get to see the prolific artist work on another Jordan Brand model.
