Andy Warhol's estate and KAWS are launching a collaborative apparel and accessory collection exclusively via global retailer UNIQLO. Known for their innovative and boundary-pushing work, both KAWS and Andy Warhol have left an indelible mark on the art world. This collaboration celebrates their unique visions, combining Warhol’s iconic pop art with KAWS's contemporary street art. The collection is part of a broader partnership with UNIQLO, which will also be the presenting sponsor for the global run of the KAWS + Warhol exhibition at The Andy Warhol Museum.
The KAWS x Andy Warhol Apparel Collection includes four t-shirts, three sweatshirts, two sweatpants, and two jackets. Each clothing item showcases a blend of artwork and themes from both artists. KAWS' famous XX designs are featured alongside Andy Warhol’s iconic pieces, such as the banana artwork, seamlessly integrated with figures from KAWS' repertoire, such as the BFF figure. Accessories in the collection include four pairs of socks, two tote bags, and a KAWS + Warhol Book, which features artwork from their collaborative exhibit.
On April 25, UNIQLO and The Andy Warhol Museum announced that UNIQLO would be the presenting sponsor for the global run of the KAWS + Warhol exhibition, which opened on May 18, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The exhibition features works by Andy Warhol and KAWS side-by-side and is the first to explore the darker themes beneath the bright colors and pop culture references both artists are known for. UNIQLO’s support builds on its long-standing partnerships with these iconic artists, reflecting the company's commitment to the philosophy of "Art for All." The exhibition will be on view at The Andy Warhol Museum until January 20, 2025, and will tour internationally, stopping in Tokyo in 2026.
The KAWS x Andy Warhol Apparel Collection will release on August 22, 2024, exclusively via UNIQLO online and in-store. Prices range between $6 to $70, depending on the item.
