In celebration of WNBA star Kelsey Plum’s 30th birthday, Under Armour is marking the occasion with a special sneaker drop highlighting the athlete and her namesake fruit. Known for her on-court excellence and vibrant personality, Plum has become a key figure in Under Armour’s basketball lineup, influencing the design of her footwear throughout this WNBA season. Now, fans can get a taste of her signature style with the release of the Under Armour Breakthru 5 Plum colorway and an accompanying Under Armour Apparition, available just in time for her birthday. Previously, Plum was given multiple PE colorways of the Breakthru 5, including a UFC and smoothie-inspired colorway.
The Breakthru 5 is the latest from Under Armour’s basketball offerings, specifically engineered to meet the performance needs of female athletes. This latest Plum edition showcases a synthetic suede overlay for lightweight stability, enhanced by design considerations tailored to women’s movement patterns on the court. The sneaker’s purple and orange color scheme is directly inspired by the fruit that shares Plum’s name, with dewdrop graphics scattered across the upper to mimic the look of a freshly picked plum. A custom Kelsey Plum fruit sticker graphic further drives home the theme, adding a playful yet unique element to this release.
In addition to the Breakthru 5 Plum, Under Armour has also crafted a limited-edition Plum colorway of the Apparition silhouette. The Apparition model complements the collection, offering fans another stylish option that aligns with the plum-themed aesthetics. The color scheme uses a gradient pattern along its leather overlays on the toe, transitioning from purple into an orange hue as you move back. Custom plum stickers, including the tongue and insole, are also featured in the design. Along with the sneakers, a matching t-shirt will be available for those looking to complete the look. The Breakthru 5 Plum will be available at both UA.com and Dick’s Sporting Goods, while the Apparition and t-shirt are exclusive to Under Armour’s online store.
The Under Armour Plum Pack released today, August 21, 2024, through Under Armour and is currently available to purchase. The Breakthru 5 retails at $135 and is also available to purchase at Dick’s Sporting Goods, while the Apparition is priced at $110.
