Bulgarian-born designer Kiko Kostadinov has continued to flex his creative muscles with Asics, serving as the creative director of the Asics' SportStyle division and through his eponymous label. Recently, Kiko launched two new colorways of the Asics Novalis Gel-Teremoa, a silhouette that Kiko and his designers designed. A new model from Kiko and Asics has emerged: the Gel-Flammae.
The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Gel-Flammae debuts in two striking colorways, one in Mako Blue and the other in Gunmetal. Both pairs feature a mesh base with textured leather panels covering the midfoot and upper profile. The design showcases a blend of futuristic and classic elements, making it a standout addition to the Asics lineup. Rubber extends up from the outsole to the center of the toe, providing added durability. At the same time, wavy panels run along the edge of the sole, contrasting the linear patterns on the Asics tiger stripes.
Branding is tastefully minimal, with Kiko's logo reserved for the left sneaker's insole, while Asics logos appear on the tongue tag, the right sneaker's insole, and the heel. Underfoot, the Gel-Flammae features a Gel-cushioned midsole in a tonal finish, ensuring comfort and performance. The rubber outsole completes the look, offering traction and stability.
The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Gel-Flammae Pack W will release on July 12, 2024, through Kiko Kostadinov's website, and in-store at their London and Tokyo locations. A wider release via Asics and select retailers will follow in the coming weeks. Available in women's sizing, retail is set at £235.00 ($305 approx).
