Back in 2020, Kiko Kostadinov shocked the sneaker world by unexpectedly announcing that his collaboration with Asics was over. Over the past few years, the Bulgarian fashion designer has dropped some of the most iconic collaborations with the Japanese sportswear company, and many saw this surprising move as the end of an era. Little did we know, the power duo would pick up where they left off almost three years later with the Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Gel-Quantum Zientzia "Black." One of their most avant-garde designs yet, make sure you read on to find out everything that you need to know about this hyped reunion.
Taking on an all-new silhouette, the Gel-Quantum Zientzia falls in line with Kiko and Asics' usual look and feel but it has been infused with a few futuristic elements throughout. Bearing a striking resemblance to Kostadinov's Gel-Quantum Levitrack, it features an all-black mesh and leather construction with striking blue accents throughout. Tiger Stripes make their way across the lateral and medial sidewalls, while metallic silver overlays take over the collar and lacing system for a robotic aesthetic. Shifting your focus down below, the geometric midsole features a series of glossy Gel pods which are extremely comfortable. The collaboration is then finished off with Asics' "A" logo along the tongue, toe, and heel, as well as co-branding across both of the insoles, finalizing the design.
If you want the Kiko Kostadinov x Asics Gel-Quantum Zientzia Black in your collection, then you need to listen up. Set to release on February 28th, 2023, it'll be available in men's sizes at Asics and select retailers worldwide, with a retail price yet TBA.
