Ronnie Fieg's Kith x Marvel Super Villains x Asics Collection Releases August 2024

Following the success of last year’s Kith x Marvel x Asics collaboration celebrating the X-Men's 60th Anniversary, Ronnie Fieg has teased an exciting new venture. This time, the spotlight is on Marvel's supervillains, further expanding the creative boundaries. Last year's release was notable for its mystery box format and included PSA-graded trading cards, adding a unique collectible element, with this supervillain pack featuring a similar collectible aspect.

In Kith's Marvel Super Villains x Asics collection, Fieg showcases several Asics models, each inspired by different Marvel characters. The collection includes the GT-2160, Gel-1130, and Gel-Kayano 14, with designs reflecting the personas of Magneto, Silver Surfer, Venom, Green Goblin, and Spider-Man. For instance, the Gel-1130 features Magneto's signature colors and design elements, while the Gel-Kayano 14 channels the sleek, cosmic style of Silver Surfer. Venom and Spider-Man share the GT-2160 silhouette, with Venom’s pair exhibiting a dark, symbiote-inspired aesthetic and Spider-Man's pair capturing the web-slinger's classic red and blue look. The Green Goblin's influence can also be seen in another GT-2160, which incorporates his distinctive green and purple color scheme.

One particularly intriguing aspect of the collection is the Venom and Spider-Man Pack, which includes both sneakers and a graded comic book. While the previous X-Men Collection was bling, the Super Villains Collection will allow you to choose which one you'd like to buy. All pairs will be available separately outside the Venom vs. Spider-Man, which comes in a two-shoe pack. Each pair comes with a copy of the latest Kith x Marvel comic book with different variants packaged randomly. The rarity of each comic is based on color.

Alongside the footwear, Kith has also crafted a series of clothing and accessories to help celebrate Marvel's 85th anniversary. Included in this is a collab with luxury home brand Modernica, who created a custom version of their Fiberglass Shell Chair that features a wraparound archival Marvel artwork design. To celebrate Silver Surfer, Kith teamed up with surfing brand Haydenshapes for an actual silver surfboard. Finally, a full clothing capsule features artwork and vintage-inspired designs across the Marvel universe.

The Kith x Marvel Super Villains x Asics collection will release on August 9, 2024, through Kith online and in-store. An early release will take place at San Diego Comic-Con at the PSA booth on Thursday and Friday. According to PSA, each box "contains one pair of hero- or villain-inspired sneakers, plus a corresponding comic book." Retail varies between the pairs, with the Spider-Man and Venom pack retailing for $350, the Silver Surfer Kayano 14 for $190, Magneto's Gel-1130 for $155, and the Green Goblin GT-2160 for $175.
