KORN. The nu-metal band from Bakersfield, CA, is one of the most famous rock groups ever. They helped kick off the nu-metal scene in the early 90s and are still a force to be reckoned with today. Going back to their beginnings, KORN has always had an affection for adidas, even using the brand's initials as an acronym for one of their most popular songs, A.D.I.D.A.S. While the two labels never officially worked together during the band's heyday, KORN and adidas partnered up in late 2023 much to the appraise of music fans and sneakerheads.
The first KORN x adidas Collection featured footwear and apparel. This capsule included the Campus 00s, Supermodified, and a special sequin tracksuit reminiscent of the custom outfit designed and worn by singer Jonathan Davis in the mid-90s. This collection paid homage to KORN's second album, Life Is Peachy, which housed the song A.D.I.D.A.S. and served as the final record before the band skyrocketed into superstardom with the follow-up album, 1998's Follow The Leader.
Speaking of the 5x Platinum album, Follow The Leader would inspire the second KORN x adidas Collection, launched in May. Included in this capsule was another sequin tracksuit alongside other apparel pieces paying homage to the record. On the footwear side, the Supermodified returned alongside the Campus 2. As we near the end of 2024, KORN and adidas are back with their third collection to close out the year with a bang.
Celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, the KORN x adidas Collection Part 3 pays homage to the album that started it all, their 1994 self-titled debut. This capsule features footwear, apparel, and accessories. The classic adidas Superstar is the highlight of this collection, coming in a clean black and white colorway. The sneaker features an all-leather upper, with the majority covered in black. Transparent Three Stripes branding on the sides features upsidedown KORN and adidas Trefoil branding.
Superstar is written in gold in KORN font, with a backward "R." More branding comes into play via the back white leather heel tabs with KORN on the right and adidas on the left. EST. 1994 is embroidered in red on the inside of the white cotton tongue lining, matching the sockliner. Fat white laces cover the black leather tongue with an off-white rubber shelltoe matching the midsole. A gum rubber outsole finishes off the shoe. Additional details include custom-printed insoles with the cover artwork for the self-titled album, a guitar pick hang tag, and a custom box.
In addition to the Superstar, a pair of Adilette slides in a similar theme will also be a part of this collection. On the apparel side, a new tracksuit sans sequins, hoodie, overshirt, and long-sleeve accompany a beanie, socks, and tote bag. Korn's official webstore has also unveiled an exclusive pair of adidas Superstars honoring their original Demo tape, a 30th Anniversary t-shirt, and a black and blue sequin tracksuit.
The Korn x adidas 30th Anniversary Collection will release on October 31, 2024, through Korn's official webstore, adidas Confirmed, and select retailers online and in-store. In men’s sizing, retail costs $140 for the Superstar, $40 for the Adilette, and $30-$160 for the apparel. For the Korn Store exclusives, the Superstar retails for $200, the track jacket for $200, the track pants for $120, and the t-shirt for $70.
