Founded in 2012, Labor Skate Shop has grown into a central hub for NYC skaters from throughout the city's boroughs thanks to its prime location near the trains and local parks. The brand's goal: help the local skating community by supporting and nurturing them, in the end creating a place for many to escape home. This emergence in the city has led to more mainstream attention as the shop is getting their chance to create their own version of the Vans Half Cab, drawing influence from the mythical sewer gators of NYC.
The silhouette gets major gator vibes with the use of faux gator skin leather and green suede overlays. Around the toe, the latter of the two materials makes an appearance, accented by a black canvas tongue with two-tone green and yellow laces. Working down the profile is the aforementioned faux gator skin, getting a blacked-out makeover. Branding details remain true to the OG Half Cab with a Vans logo atop the tongue, lateral collar, and the heel of the midsole, though Labor Skateshop does appear next to the Half Cab branding near the collar. Rounding out the look is the black rubber midsole paired with a green rubber outsole.
The Labor Skate Shop x Vans Half Cab Sewer Gator is slated to release on August 18th, 2022 exclusively through Labor Skate Shop. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $90.
