In 2020, Louis Vuitton and Virgil Abloh signed their first pro skater Lucien Clarke, producing their first sneaker designed for skating “The View.” Last year, Virgil Abloh took to Instagram to give a sneak peak at a more complete collection of high fashion skate bags, boards and sneakers. After releasing an almost $60,000 bag and board set last summer, the French fashion powerhouse is continuing to honor the designer with the upcoming Louis Vuitton LVSK8.
So far we’ve seen a variety of colorways on the way in two-tone color schemes. The construction is similar to early 2000s skate shoes such as the Osiris D3, chunky and well padded. Keeping in line with luxury, diamonds encrust the mudguard, providing a sparkle atop the leather. Sitting atop a mesh base, premium suede and leather overlays work around the mid foot, forming the iconic LV monogram flower. Thick rope laces work towards the tongue tag with LV1854 branding, a nod to the founding year of the brand. This same callback is seen on the heel tab with LV54. Working down the silhouette, a similar midsole to the LV trainer with monogram motifs on the back sits atop the tractioned rubber outsole.
The Louis Vuitton LVSK8 is set to drop sometime in 2022 with a full line of colors and even a high top on the way as well. Releasing through Louis Vuitton and LV retailers online and in-store, the retail price has yet to be announced.
