Virgil Abloh was able to mesh high fashion and sportswear through his collaborative efforts on the various Off-White x Nike projects. However, the pinnacle of this fusion came from his work at Louis Vuitton. The highly anticipated Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collection was released in 2022 and garnered a hefty $2,000-plus price tag across the various models (more for select colorways). Aside from these pairs that hit the market, Virgil and co. crafted a slew of unreleased samples showcased at his The Codes exhibit during Art Basel in Miami last December. After seeing a new Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid mimicking Rasheed Wallace’s iconic pair, a “Green Suede” sample of the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low.
Utilizing the same high-quality materials from LV, this “Green Suede” sample adds LV monogram print-laden suede to the mudguard, eyestays, heel, and Swoosh while a tonal olive lands on the canvas base layer. These panels also feature hits of LV’s infamous monogram while the medial side’s midfoot hosts Helvetica text stating, “LOUIS VUITTON for Nike.” Other details Virgil borrowed from his Off-White designs are present with the laces hosting the French word for laces, “LACET,” and a co-branded logo atop the tongue tag. Underfoot sits a white AF1 midsole with green accents on the “Air” branding and a green rubber outsole.
The Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low Green Suede will likely remain a sample/F&F pair and not see a retail release.
