Skateboarding legend-turned-artist Mark Gonzales has had the privilege of working with adidas for more than a decade, adding his vision to various silhouettes and apparel over the years. His best-known artwork, the Shmoo, has become a mainstay in his designs. Now his joyful design is portrayed on its latest canvas, the Mark Gonzales x adidas Ultra Boost “Shmoo.”
Keeping its usual Primeknit upper, Mark adds a camouflage pattern of grey and black with his Shmoo design, both smiling and frowning, present throughout. Grey flat laces, though not serving the most functional purpose, weave between the semi-translucent Three Stripes cage in a smokey grey. Placed atop the tongue of the sock-like silhouette is your usual adidas Performance logo on the right sneaker with Gonzales’ “Shmoofoil” logo present on the left. On the rear, the usual plastic heel counter sports Ultra Boost branding in a black-on-black arrangement. Rounding out the look is the blacked-out exposed Boost midsole and gum Continental rubber outsole.
The Mark Gonzales x adidas Ultra Boost Shmoo is set to release on May 5th, 2022 through adidas and select Three Stripes retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $180.
