German sportswear brand adidas has announced a multi-year partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team to become an official partner for the first time. Starting with the 2025 season and beyond, The Brand With The Three Stripes will provide equipment for the entire team, including drivers, mechanics, and engineers.
adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden said - "We will support the drivers and the team to push the limits on the track. Off the track we will bring a fresh perspective to the sport by introducing exciting lifestyle products and extending the reach to a new generation of fans. We look forward to supporting Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 and to win together."
Toto Wolff, Co-owner, CEO, and Team Principal of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, stated, "adidas is an iconic brand, one that shares our dedication not only to peak performance but to style and sophistication too. This announcement therefore represents a groundbreaking collaboration that will redefine what team and fanwear means in our sport."
Immediately upon the announcement, a full footwear range of dual-branded products clad in the Formula 1 team livery surfaced, including the Ultraboost 5X, Supernova Rise, VL Court, and Lightblaze, to name a few. First up is the adidas Ultraboost 5X, which has an upper crafted from black mesh and carries the Mercedes and AMG logos on the tongue. The Formula 1 team's iconic semi mint rush hues contrast in the form of the Three Stripes along the midfoot and at the front of the LIGHT BOOST midsole, which fades in a gradient effect to grey tones at the rear. EQT branding on the heel and a rubber outsole underfoot complete the look.
Next is the adidas Supernova Rise, which bears a similar aesthetic. The black mesh upper is again joined by semi mint rush Three Stripes contrasting along the side and the Mercedes and AMG logos on the tongue, but the lower section of the upper and stripes have been adorned with 3M reflective detailing. Underfoot, the multiple-layer DREAMSTRIKE midsole is finished with a rubber outsole for increased grip.
Clean white mesh is used to craft the adidas Lightblaze upper, with creamy nubuck overlays at the toe, midfoot, and heel. adidas EQT branding is on the tongue, with black textured Three Stripes featured along the side. A frost green hue lines the collar, and the look is finished with the chunky LIGHTSTRIKE midsole coupled with a rubber outsole color-matched to the lining.
One of the best-selling pairs of footwear appears, as two pairs of the adidas AdiLette Comfort are included in the range. One is adorned with semi-mint rush hues, and the other is daubed in black. Both pairs feature adidas branding debossed on the polyurethane footbeds. The Comfort straps bridge over the foot and feature the Formula 1 team's full moniker and logo.
A playful riff on the classic Gazelle Indoor model, the adidas Barreda Decode is included in two colorways with the same material blend for the construction. The upper is formed from a nylon base, with suede overlays at the toe, lace stay, and heel, joined by a cushioned midsole and rubber outsole. One pair comes primarily in black and the other in white. Semi Mint Rush tones combine on both pairs as a heel tab with Mercedes-AMG branding, a tongue tag with the linear adidas logo, and Three Stripes branding at the midfoot.
A white leather upper is joined by a nubuck toebox and a grey heel panel on one pair of adidas VL Court. Three Stripes branding features the semi mint rush hues, and a white rubber outsole completes the look. The other pair of VL Court features the same construction but is adorned in a triple black colorway, with both pairs scribed with full Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team distinctions on the sidewall.
Finishing the footwear collection is a pair of adidas Ultimashow 2.0, crafted from black mesh and with a molded TPU cage in semi mint rush hue at the midfoot, providing structural support. Mercedes-AMG branding is seen on the tongue label, and all the pairs in the collection also have insignias on the insoles. Underfoot, the CLOUDFOAM midsole is daubed in black, with the final appearance of semi mint rush finishing the rubber outsole.
