When they’re not coming up with out-of-the-box ideas like giving thousands a key to a single car for all to use, MSCHF is hitting the design lab to whip up sneaker designs that toe the line between copyright infringement and standalone art pieces thanks to legal battles with Nike and Vans. While their last release, the MSCHF AC.1, turned injury into high fashion, their next offering is a followup to their previously released Super Normal Sneaker. Switching up the materials and limiting the pairs to a 666, the MSCHF Super Normal Sneaker 2 "Perrotin Edition" is here.
Unlike the first pair released, this Super Normal comes in a mainly all-black look with hairy suede featured throughout its wavy paneled design. Accenting stitching details in white run the edges of each panel, providing depth to the almost monochromatic color palette while a set of two-tone black and white laces run up the all-black tongue. Branding details make their mark with MSCHF’s “!!!” logo dressed in white on the tongue tag and heel while each of the 666 pairs gets numbered along the lateral side of the heel. Back on the heel, "Perrotin" is embroidered in white, nodding to the art gallery in which MSCHF will show off their inaugural solo gallery show "No More Tears, I'm Lovin' it." Rounding out the design is the black midsole that features “MSCHF” branding in a wavy font paired with a white rubber outsole that partially extends up to the midsole in various portions.
The MSCHF Super Normal Sneaker 2 is set to release on November 3rd, 2022 exclusively through the MSCHF Sneakers App and at the Perrotin Gallery NYC. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $185.
