Over at the MSCHF collective, we’ve seen their bi-weekly releases teeter between art projects and hypebeast accessories. For example, their Blur Money Stack that is reminiscent of Supreme’s infamous brick. Their first venture into the footwear realm was with the Air Max 97 “Jesus” customs that featured Holy Water from the Jordan River inside the Air unit. On the flip side, they collaborated with Lil Nas X in what has become their biggest controversy, the “Satan Shoe,” filled with a mix of 60cc of ink and a drop of human blood. Once negative press rolled in and many online users believed it was an official Nike release, the Swoosh took MSCHF to court and resale platforms removed the sneaker from their database. A little under a year since this has passed and MSCHF is re-entering the sneaker space, this time on a non-custom pair of the MSCHF Tap3 in all-black.
Appearing to mimic the Nike Air Force 1, the silhouette is donned in an all-over leather base while distancing itself from Nike's radar with MSCHF branding and different layering to the upper. Perforated leather makes up the toebox while the defining feature of yellow MSCHF branded TPU tape crisscrosses over the front of the silhouette. Going up the tongue is a set of black flat laces that sit below the yellow tongue tag with MSCHF exclamation points in red. Along the midfoot, more TPU tape runs diagonally from the heel to reach the blacked-out midsole. More MSCHF branding is found on this midsole along the heel with the entire look finished with a black rubber outsole.
