In the realm of sneaker culture, New Balance's ability to resurrect classic models has consistently kept the brand at the forefront of the industry. The spotlight now shifts towards the revival of the New Balance 1000, a silhouette that first made its mark in 1999. The model is set to receive a modern refresh and boasts anticipated collaborations with Joe Freshgoods and Aime Leon Dore, the former dressing the sneaker in Pink Mink and Black Ice. This initiative to bring back the New Balance 1000 has already unveiled several colorways, including the Tan Pink, Black Multi-Color, Grey, Metallic Silver, and White Grey Cream. The latest addition to this lineup is the Green Grey colorway.
Like the Tan Pink colorway, the New Balance 1000 Green Grey features a harmonious blend of leather, ripstop mesh, and suede. The design philosophy behind this model is centered around a dual-color scheme, with the lower and upper halves of the sneaker contrasting in color. The base layers of the toe and midfoot are presented in a robust dark grey, while the overlays from the toe, through the suede midfoot to the leather heel, are adorned in various shades of green.
Cream accents add a touch of elegance to the eyestays, lace set, tongue, and heel, with the iconic N logo on the midfoot outlined in green and filled with cream. Further branding details are subtly placed on the lateral toe, tongue tag, and heel tab, reinforcing the model's identity. Beneath the meticulously crafted upper, the sneaker features a foam midsole in green, ensuring both comfort and support. This midsole is coupled with a durable black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1000 Green Grey will release on September 11, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
