Steven Smith is no longer with New Balance (or Ye’s DONDA company, for that matter), but his presence in the footwear industry remains strong. His billing as “The Godfather of Dad Shoes” can be traced back decades, with models like the New Balance 1500 attributed to the legend. Celebrating its 35th birthday in 2024, the model has been subject to many makeovers this year, and the latest comes in Purple Neon Yellow.
The Made in UK 1500 receives the usual premium material makeup with pigskin suede, leather, and mesh. On the base layer sits a silver-grey mesh, peeking through the toe, tongue, and portions of the midfoot, while the suede panels along the mudguard, midfoot, and heel take on a vibrant purple shade. Neon yellow pops are found along the trim of the N logo on the midfoot, the 1500 text near the lateral heel, and the New Balance text on the black suede portion of the tongue. Like many New Balance models, the toebox overlays have a leather finish and come in a tonal grey shade. Underfoot sits the 1500 midsole in grey with pops of neon yellow near the toe and heel paired with a black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1500 Made in UK Purple Neon Yellow will release in Holiday 2024 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $230. Download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world
