Before Steven Smith left Yeezy and joined Crocs, the “godfather of dad shoes” worked on an array of New Balance sneakers in the ‘80s, including the New Balance 1500. Since its original release in 1989, the Made in UK sneaker has become a staple for the Flimby, UK, factory, with new colorways launching each year. Now, alongside the 991v2 Made in UK, the 1500 will get a Vintage Navy makeover.
Identical to the aforementioned 991v2 Made in UK in terms of its color palette and material makeup, this Vintage Navy New Balance 1500 sees premium pigskin suede in navy hues along the mudguard, midfoot panel, and heel overlay. Grey-cream leather hits the toebox overlay, vamp, tongue, and collar, with the tongue also featuring red New Balance branding. Moving to the midfoot and heel, we see embroidered logos for New Balance and the 1500 model, both in a cream hue.

We see a sandwich mesh in a steel blue shade for its base layer around the toe. More contrasting details are found on the sockliner, which receives a stark white finish. Below, the Encap-laden midsole comes in cream and tan, while the rubber outsole below has a tonal vintage tan finish.
The New Balance 1500 Made in UK Vintage Navy will release in Spring 2025 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
