Designed in 1989 by the legendary Steven Smith, the New Balance 1500 still holds a firm place in New Balance’s Made in UK lineup. This year marks the 35th birthday of the sneaker, which has led the Boston-based footwear label to launch an array of options for us to celebrate. Following up on the Rainforest rendition from July, New Balance adds cilantro and silver accents to a white-based New Balance 1500.
As indicated by its Made in UK construction, the sneaker boasts a premium full-grain leather upper mixed with nubuck and mesh panels. White leather lands on the mudguard, midfoot panel, and heel overlay, while cilantro-shaded leather lines the edge of the toebox and appears on the vamp. Mesh along the toebox continues the white hues, with a black netting peeking along the midfoot. More black is on the branding details across the upper, including the N logo, New Balance Made in England logo, and 1500 embroidered on the lateral heel. Final touches on the upper include a cream lace set, a silver collar, and silver on the tongue's top. The cream and black foam midsole rounds out the look, paired with a grey and black rubber outsole.
The New Balance 1500 Made in UK White Cilantro will release on September 5, 2024, via select EU retailers like Asphalt Gold, with a wider drop via New Balance and global retailers in the coming weeks. Available in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $230.
