New Balance continues to push its 550 hard, as an onslaught of new colorways have surfaced this week. The retro basketball model has utilized a variety of colors for its upper, and canvas joins the mix with the upcoming 550 Canvas “Grey Gum”.
New Balance trades out classic leather for a dark grey textile canvas that shrouds the entire upper. The laces coordinate with the dark grey theme, with hits of black appearing on the "N" logo and 550 branding found on the toe box. Additional contrast comes fromthe white tongue tag, which features branding in the same grey. The midsole provides an additional break, with a stark white sandwiched between the upper and gum outsole.
The New Balance 550 “Grey Gum” is set to release this year via New Balance and select retailers, online and in-store. Releasing in mens sizing, the retail price is set to be $110.
