Light Milk Tea Shades Take Over This New Balance 550

New Balance’s rise to prominence in the sneaker scene can be attributed to a slew of reasons, however, Teddy Santis’ ALD reviving the New Balance 550 in 2020 was a major contributor. Since then, the silhouette has taken over social media feeds and the feet of many in streetwear and continues to appear in new makeups on what seems like a weekly basis. Now, the model is getting a tonal, almost-monochromatic cream makeover dubbed “Light Milk Tea.”
Covered in its usual all-leather build, the sneaker maintains the typical construction found on an NB 550 with this “Light Milk Tea” colorway taking on a single shade of cream across its upper. Tonal stitching details secure the various leather panels to the sneaker with the toebox and midfoot featuring perforated leather. Branding details do receive slight tweaks compared to a normal 550 as the tongue tag forgoes any basketball graphics and instead features “NB” text while the insole features the retro “The Intelligent Choice” marketing slogan. Rounding out the upper is the “N” logo on the midfoot and tonal leather overlays on the heels while the design gets finished by a white midsole paired with a creamy rubber outsole.
The New Balance 550 Light Milk Tea is set to release in 2023 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
